Theora is an open video codec being developed by the Xiph.org Foundation as part of their OGG project. Theora is derived from On2's VP3 codec. Theora is released to the public via a BSD-style license which means it is completely free for commercial or noncommercial use. The Xiph.org Foundation is a non-profit corporation dedicated to producing, maintaining and supporting an open multimedia platform.
The TTC Contest
The TTC Contest is a film contest for members of the Brickfilms.com community to promote the use of the Theora video codec. See the contest discussion at Brickfilms.com.
A 'brickfilm' is a stop-motion animation animated with plastic building toys -- most commonly LEGO but other brands such as Mega Bloks and Best-Lock are used.
The contest will be open-themed and all are invited to submit entries. There is no hardcore prohibition of copyrighted or trademarked material; though use of original creations or public domain works is encouraged.
